You want the design to be consistent from camera to editing the final product. The weakest link will determine the quality level product you will be able to produce. Today the new system and buzzword is "Hi Def", but just having the cameras be able to capture "Hi Def" is the first part and does not mean that you will have a "Hi Def" product.
