This panel is meant to be a roadmap to plan your experience at InfoCOmm. Where are you within your house of worship team/staff/volunteer crew? Are you interested in basic nuts and bolts, or advanced methods to use brand new products? You can find everything you are looking for at InfoComm, however it helps to have a game plan. This panel kicks off the conference by helping all attendees strategize their approach and maximize their experience.

Basic - How To Get Started In Podcasting

Podcasting is one of the newest distribution channels for audio/visual content, combining streaming and downloadable media with the incredibly popular Web format. This seminar will include an overview of the technologies and best practices for podcasting, plus a discussion about content formats for different viewing devices and target platforms. Syndication and RSS will also be discussed. You will also learn about licensing and copyright issues for podcasting and the do's and don'ts to encoding and setting up the production end of your podcast. There will be FREE streaming media giveaways for all that attend this session.

Basic - Audio Nuts and Bolts

This seminar is designed for the novice volunteer or newly appointed sound engineer. We will discuss fundamental audio concepts like your optimal gear turn-on sequence, the "Mix-Minus theory", proper sound-check order, and how to effectively test and tune your room. No question is too basic, no anecdote irrelevant. Plan to leave this seminar with a desire to get right back to the board armed with your new knowledge!

Intermediate - Tools and Best Practices For Broadcasting LIVE Streaming Media Over the Internet

This session will discuss favorite toolsets and techniques for producing LIVE streaming media content over the internet. From bandwidth considerations to encoding and server distribution, this session will detail the best practices for delivering a live Internet Webcast. Discover how to deconstruct a complex and rich LIVE event down to its elemental parts, from hardware and software, to the workflow and setup of live production. The emphasis will be on in-house production with "off-the-shelf" tools and apps rather than turnkey or outsourced solutions. Premiere or Final Cut Pro, Flash or Silverlight or all of the above? What works and what should be avoided? What is the best way to maximize your bitrate, frame size and compression? We will share experiences and guidelines to help you produce successful, high-quality Internet Webcasts. There will be FREE streaming media giveaways for all that attend this session.

Webcasting Production: Encoding, Delivery and Management

This workshop will focus on the streaming media workflow and process after content has been produced and captured. Beginning with encoding, we will demonstrate how streaming media encoders work and discuss best practices, such as bit rates, screen size, frames per second, and which codecs to use. Cross-platform player embedding issues will be discussed, as well as simple scripting for controlling streaming media players. Finally, administering streaming media servers will be covered, including setup and day-to-day management. There will be FREE streaming media giveaways for all that attend this session.
